Manufacturers directory

Find a contract manufacturer that fits your product

An honest shortlist of US co-manufacturers and co-packers for brands that make supplements, food and drinks, beauty and personal care, pet food, baby products, cleaning products and candles, with the questions to ask before you sign. Every claim on a listing is checked against the manufacturer’s own website.

How to choose a contract manufacturer

Five steps that save most brands a bad first run.

  1. Step 1

    Write down your spec

Format, serving size, packaging, label claims, target cost per unit and first-year volume. Manufacturers quote on these, and a vague brief gets you vague quotes.

  2. Step 2

    Decide private label or custom

A stock formula is faster and cheaper to launch. A custom formula is yours alone but takes months of development and testing. Many brands start with one and move to the other.

  3. Step 3

    Match certifications to your channels

Retailers, Amazon and athletes ask for different proof: cGMP, NSF, SQF, organic, kosher, an OTC drug or EPA registration. Choose a manufacturer that already holds what your channels and claims need.

  4. Step 4

Get minimums and lead times in writing

Minimums per SKU, per flavor and per run, plus raw material lead times. Together they set how much cash sits in inventory and how early you have to reorder.

  5. Step 5

Agree on records before the first run

Lot numbers, certificates of analysis, batch records and who keeps them. You will need them for every retailer audit, complaint and recall.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a contract manufacturer and a co-packer?

The terms overlap. A contract manufacturer usually makes the product to your spec and often helps formulate it. A co-packer often runs your existing recipe and packages it. Many companies do both, so ask what they actually do in house.

How is this directory different from a manufacturer matching service?

We do not sell introductions and manufacturers do not pay to be listed. We publish a short list of US manufacturers with each claim checked against the manufacturer’s own website, and leave the choosing to you.

How do I find a manufacturer with low minimums?

Start with private label programs, which tend to have lower minimums than custom work, and ask about the format you want first. We show a minimum only when the manufacturer states it on its own site.

What records should I get from my contract manufacturer?

At least a certificate of analysis for each finished lot, the lot number and expiry date on every unit, and access to the batch record when you need it. Keep them with your own inventory records so you can trace any unit back to its ingredients.

Do I still need inventory software if I outsource manufacturing?

Yes. You buy the ingredients or packaging, approve the batches, hold stock at the co-man, a 3PL and maybe your own shelf, and answer for every lot on the market. Your co-man’s records only cover its own floor.

How do manufacturers get listed here?

A manufacturer can request a listing. We list US manufacturers that make product in their own facility for outside brands, and whose website states the claims we publish. Listings are free and removed on request.
