Closures
Caps, droppers, pumps and seals that fit your bottle
The part most likely to leak, fail a retailer check or slow a filling line. What to require, what to ask, and US suppliers whose own websites back every claim we list.
What to require from closure suppliers
The same neck finish as your bottle
A 38-400 cap fits only a 38-400 bottle. Order closures against the bottle’s spec drawing, and test-fit samples on the real bottle before a full order.
The right liner
Induction seals give a tamper-evident, leak-resistant seal; foam and pressure-sensitive liners are simpler. The liner touches your product, so ask for food-contact compliance where it applies.
Child-resistant where the law requires it
Dietary supplements with 250 mg or more of elemental iron per package need child-resistant packaging under 16 CFR 1700. Ask for the closure’s test certification, and test it on your bottle.
Tamper evidence your channels expect
Retailers, marketplaces and many co-manufacturers expect a seal or band that shows the package has not been opened. Decide which one before you choose the cap.
Torque and leak specs
Agree on application torque with your co-manufacturer and the supplier. Too loose leaks in transit; too tight cracks caps or frustrates customers.
Dose and dip tube for pumps and droppers
For pumps and sprayers, confirm output per stroke and dip tube length for your bottle height. For droppers, confirm the pipette length and the bulb material against your formula.
Questions to ask before you order
- Which neck finishes is this closure made in, and do you have samples?
- What liner options do you offer, and which are food-contact compliant?
- Is this closure certified child-resistant, and can you send the test report?
- What application torque do you recommend for this bottle?
- For pumps: what is the output per stroke, and can you cut the dip tube to length?
- Is each case marked with a lot number?
- What is the minimum order and lead time for a custom color?

Sell packaging to brands? Request a listingFrequently asked questions
Do supplements need child-resistant caps?
Supplements with 250 mg or more of elemental iron in the package must use child-resistant packaging under 16 CFR 1700. Other products may need it for other ingredients, and some brands choose it anyway. Check the rule for your formula with your regulatory advisor.
What is an induction seal?
A foil liner inside the cap that a co-manufacturer bonds to the bottle rim with an induction sealer after capping. It shows tampering and helps stop leaks. Your co-manufacturer needs the equipment, so ask before you choose it.
Can I buy caps from a different supplier than my bottles?
Yes, if the neck finish matches. Order samples of both and test them together, since small differences between makers can still cause leaks.
